Work Based Learning-Giving me a new learning opportunity

After a long study gap I started my Ma in Interior Architecture and Design in the University of Portsmouth in jan-2023.

In the first class we were given an idea about the course and were shown what projects we had scope for practice. Then we were asked to choose a project. Then I chose the wedding venue project at Fort Widley. Then I got five other wonderful people with me.  Go, those who are going to work with me on a project. 

In the next class we show some of the work we have done in the previous year and give ideas on what can be done.

As an architect I always feel a joy inside myself in new type of work. Every new job I learn something new. This is the first time I have an opportunity to work on a conservation type project.

One day we as a group went on a site visit to Fort Widley. I liked the site visit a lot, because this complex stands as a witness to history. After that we had a chance to go inside and have a better look. From there we collected some sample photos.

I really liked the first room they used as their front desk here.

After that we visited the tunnel where we saw a very beautiful spiral staircase.

As I was going inside, the dilapidated condition of this building became more visible. Since it is very old, the plaster came up in places. I saw the H beams or I beams used in the roof of this building. After that, we walked to the end of the tunnel and the exit from the tunnel.  I got it. I was wondering if I could get lost alone. At the last stage of the site visit, we visited a dining hall and came out. On the way out, I found posters of historical events that happened in this building at various times on the wall next to the horse stable.

Then in an online session with the client he explained his requirements and then we started working on case studies.

I like the design approach and expression specially after work effect and getting some idea that how can I accommodate it into my interior space to enhance my design approach. From here I got the idea to design using this type of screen which has an image of the first phase on it.

Later that goes through several more development phases to come to exactly this state.

Since it is a team work, we later proposed a design with outdoor summer enjoyment. It was basically an outdoor venue of this arena.
